45th Annual Gem & Mineral Show
The Fort Collins Rockhounds Club presents the 45th Annual Gem and Mineral
Show on March 24th (Friday, 4-8 p.m.), March 25th (Saturday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.),
and March 26th (Sunday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.) at the Lincoln Center, 419 W. Magnolia
St., Fort Collins, CO.
This year's exhibits feature Fluorite and Jasper. Planned
live demonstrations include gold panning, lapidary, mineral identification,
flintknapping, and wire wrapping. Door prizes are presented hourly. Grab bags of
mineral specimens and the silent auction are ongoing. Gem and mineral dealers
sell everything from rockhounding equipment to ore-grade specimens to fine
jewelry.
Adult admission is $3.00 for one day or $5.00 for a 3-day pass. Student (12-18
years old) admission is $1.00. Children under 12 free when accompanied by adult.

Ours is the oldest mineral club in Colorado and we host the largest silent
auction in the state. Last year, 745 items consisting of minerals, fossils,
lapidary rough, finished jewelry, lapidary equipment, carvings, books,
fluorescent specimens, and other rock hobby related materials were sold by over
35 sellers in only four hours. Furthermore, we have a large dark room with UV
lamps for viewing fluorescent minerals.

The Oklahoma State Council Swap
is hosted every year by the Oklahoma Mineral & Gem Society at Red Rock
Canyon State, Hinton, OK. Park, about 45 minutes west of Oklahoma City on
Interstate 40. This is a beautiful park with some full hookups, several electric
and water, and tent camping. There is no admission charge for those who want to
spend the day. We will have a short State Council Meeting Saturday afternoon at
2:00 with an auction of donated items following. All proceeds from the auction
goes into the State Council Scholarship fund. We will have fluorescent displays
Friday and Saturday night, with a potluck dinner Saturday evening. All are
invited to join in all activities and we know you will have a good time visiting
and meeting with old and new friends.

Hosted by the Western Dakota Gem and Mineral Society will be held at the

DETAILS: The Denver Gem & Mineral Show and concurrent Colorado Fossil Expo,
offer a spectacular view of the earth sciences and lapidary arts, through
exhibits and dealer displays from around the world. 300 vendors and exhibits in
the two shows display and sell minerals, fossils, meteorites, gems, beads,
unusual jewelry and gift items, books, and lapidary equipment. Crafters and
scientists provide demonstrations of gem cutting, jewelry making, and fossil
preparation. Displays showcase some of the world’s finest museum collections.
The theme for 2007 is “The Leadville Mining District.” Speakers will give talks
on topics relating to mining and mineral collecting. There will be free gold
panning for children, and free gem and mineral identification. Mr. Bones, a
walking dinosaur, will delight children of all ages. The show, which is open to
the public, provides an exciting and educational experience.
The Denver Gem and Mineral Show is sponsored and produced by volunteers from the
Greater Denver Area Gem & Mineral Council, a non-profit association of ten area
clubs with 1400 members. All show proceeds benefit museums, scientific research,
scholarships and education. For those interested, the show is a good opportunity
to get in touch with one of the local clubs that continue to foster interest in
the earth sciences all year round.
