Club Information

Founded in 1947, the Four Corners Gem & Mineral Club provides a great opportunity to learn about the earth sciences, lapidary arts, and metalsmithing. The primary purpose of this organization is to collect and identify rocks, gems, and minerals. With a fully equipped workshop, members can cut and polish their own specimens. Metalsmithing and other associated crafts are also offered on a regular basis.

Activities include informational programs, field trips, lectures and seminars. The Annual Gem & Mineral Show, sponsored by the club, attracts hundreds of people to the La Plata county Fairgrounds.

Membership dues are $10 per year for individuals and $15 for families. Program meetings are held on the third Monday of the month at 7:30 PM.

The swap will be held in the City Park located in the northwest corner of Ellinwood, Kansas . Rocks, minerals, gems and fossils will be available to buy, sell or trade. (Dealers bring your own tables. There is free camping. Electrical hook-up is available for $5.00 per day.) A traditional pot luck supper is scheduled for Friday at 7 pm. This is an “Inter-Federation Campout & Fieldtrip Event” for the whole family with the Rocky Mountain, California and the South Central Federations (and all other Federation who wish to attend).
